Facilities & Equipment

Sefton Steel was founded in 1985.  We first started business in a 5,000 square foot facility in Northwest Houston with approximately 10 employees.  In 2006, we moved to our current location housing a 50,000 square foot facility on 5 acres with over 70 employees.

Our facility is laid out in a production line configuration with raw steel entering through one door and the fabricated product exiting another.  This allows us a mixed fabrication output of approximately 2+ million pounds per month.

Sefton utilizes the latest software, technology and equipment in the industry.  We have an established File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site which allows us to send and receive electronic bills of materials and drawings.  This capability eliminates the redundant regeneration of bid documents and project documents alike.  This effort to be environmentally aware and “Green” has also provided our customers greater control over their time sensitive projects by being able to quickly and efficiently transfer information between Sefton Steel and themselves.

Our modern shop facility includes a number of CNC fabrication machinery such as:

  • Peddinghaus PCD1100 Drill Line complete with a 44” band saw and material handling system;
  • CNC Plate machine capable of processing 96” x 20’-0 material utilizing either oxygen or plasma;
  • CNC Anglemaster with handling system

This is just a partial list of equipment that gives us the capabilities of performing virtually all work in-house, therefore eliminating unnecessary lead time.

In addition, we utilize Laser Etched Metal Tagging that provides a Bar Code and legible information for receiving/assembly purposes. Bar Coding allows us to track items from begining of fabrication through shipment to jobsite and virtually eliminates job site shortages. With the use of material managing systems such as FabSuite and EJE we are able to provide accurate master shipping lists that can be sent electronically to the jobsite and imported into their receiving software.
